Directions

Driving

Coming to Romberg Tiburon Center for the first time can be confusing. There are two different entrances that go to different buildings on the site. Follow the below directions carefully to reach your destination on time!

To get to the Bay Conference Center, SF Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve offices, or Building 39 classrooms at 3152 Paradise Drive: From Highway 101 north or south take the Tiburon Blvd/131/East Blithedale Ave exit and follow Tiburon Blvd/131 signs for "Tiburon/Belvedere" and "Angel Island State Park." Continue on Tiburon Blvd/131 for 1.7 miles to Trestle Glen Blvd. Turn left onto Trestle Glen Blvd, following signs for "Paradise Beach Park" and "Romberg Tiburon Center-SFSU." Continue 0.6 miles to Paradise Drive, and turn right. Continue 2.6 miles on Paradise Drive to the gate at 3152 Paradise Drive on your left. CAUTION: the driveway is short and steep. Large trucks and buses should continue on to the 3150 Paradise Drive entrance. You can then reach the 3152 facilities on foot via the service road (see RTC Site Map below). Google Maps will also give the correct directions here.

To get to the RTC laboratories, staff offices, the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, or Dow-Dupont Pioneer at 3150 Paradise Dr: DO NOT USE THIS ADDRESS WITH GOOGLE MAPS. You can use the GPS coordinates, 37°53'20.6"N 122°26'57.1"W, in your device if you prefer. OR follow the above directions, but PASS the first gate at 3152 and continue another 0.3 miles to the gate at 3150 Paradise Drive, where you will see a large SF State-Romberg Tiburon Center sign on the left, and a pullout area on the right. Large trucks and buses can use this area to make the tight left turn onto the driveway. Follow this driveway down towards the bay. If you are going to SERC or Pioneer, turn left at the sign for Building 30. For the RTC laboratories and offices in Building 36, continue all the way to the water (0.3 miles) and turn right towards the solar panel structure. Drive around the grass fields to the parking lot. See the RTC Site Map below for more detail.

Public Transportation

Golden Gate Transit Buses and the Blue and Gold Ferry provide service to downtown Tiburon.  However, you will need to arrange to be picked up, take a taxi, ride a bicycle or walk the remaining 2.4 miles along Paradise Drive to reach RTC itself. From downtown Tiburon, you will first encounter the 3150 Paradise Dr. gate on your right, then the 3152 gate will be 0.5 miles farther on the right.

Cycling

Cycling to RTC on Paradise Drive is popular and enjoyable, as long as both bikes and cars share the road safely. Cycling to RTC can be combined with the Tiburon ferry, or Golden Gate Transit from San Francisco or North Marin. For a map of the best bike routes, go to http://www.marinbike.org/Map/Index.shtml.
