Guest Scientist Program with BADM (K-2)
RTC and the Bay Area Discovery Museum
successfully launched their joint Guest Scientist program
in the fall of 2002. The program, made possible by an NSF
grant, is designed to expose young children and families
to the wonders of San Francisco Bay. Stewardship and appreciation
of our unique local environment is promoted through
hands-on learning. A combination of science and art activities
make learning about one of the planet's largest and most
biologically diverse estuaries fun.
The program also
introduces the local community to RTC, its faculty and students,
and the wide range of research taking place in the San Francisco
Bay estuary. The Guest Scientist program is free to the
public and is presented at BADM by an RTC graduate student
on the second Saturday of every month.
May Guest Scientist on Saturday the
9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. will feature RTC grad student
Eric Galassi from the Stillman Laboratory. He will
present "Tidepool Treasures." |
