National Science Foundation FSML and MRI awards have greatly
improved the research capabilities at the center.
The following equipment was acquired with these awards:
- ABI Prism Genetic Analyzer - 3130 Avant, used for DNA
sequencing and fragment sizing (Information on use of
this sequencer)
- ABI Prism 7300 Real time PCR system
- Winspectral Guardian LSC from PerkinElmer, a low-background
liquid scintillation counter
- Europa Scientific Equipment gas chromatograph-stable
isotope analyzer (9014U 20-20 mass spectrometer, ANCA
GSL elemental analyzer and Agilent 6890N GC combination)
- Shimadzu TOC-VCSH high temperature combustion total
organic carbon analyzer with nitrogen detector
- Costech ECS 4010 elemental analyzer with zero blank
autosampler
- Sartoius SE2 Ultra-Microbalance
- Milli-Q high purity water system
Additionally,
the University has supplied a core complement of general
use equipment including balances, microscopes, spectrophotometers,
centrifuges, temperature control rooms, refrigerators, freezers,
fume hoods, PCR thermocyclers, a Kodak gel documentation
system, UV cross-linker, hybridization oven, speed vacuum
unit, and laminar flow hood.
RTC students and staff have access
to other equipment available at specialized laboratories
at the SFSU main campus such as the GIS Facility in the Geography
Department, the Electron Microscope facility, and the Conservation
Genetics Laboratory in the Biology Department. |
