The Barbara and Richard Rosenberg Institute for Marine Biology & Environmental Science

The Barbara and Richard Rosenberg Institute for Marine Biology and Environmental Science showcases RTC's extraordinary research potential and commitment to public engagement on the health of San Francisco Bay and broader issues such as global climate and habitat change. View a short video on these efforts here. The Institute sponsors three public programs:

The Rosenberg Institute Seminar Series- Seminars take place in spring and fall semesters, and bring together the academic community and the public at large by engaging some of the best researchers and scholars in the fields of marine biology, environmental science and related disciplines. Students benefit from attending these lectures as well as presenting their own research on marine biology and the challenges facing SF Bay and the world ocean to scientific and public audiences.

The Rosenberg Institute Public Forums - Two major public forums on marine biology and related disciplines are held each year, one in the fall and one in the spring each year. These forums feature nationally renowned experts on the environment, marine biology and related fields. The Rosenberg Institute Public Forums are designed to increase the public's awareness and understanding of marine and environmental issues and solutions. The Public Forum Series provides the opportunity and structure for the public to engage with nationally renowned scholars to deepen their understanding and awareness of environmental issues and solutions. The Rosenberg Institute's Discovery Day at the Romberg Tiburon Center - Discover the marine scientist in you! For over a quarter of a century, Discovery Day (RTC's annual open house) has been a community and family tradition. The free event is open to the public, who are invited to spend the afternoon at the Center, meet RTC scientists and students, learn about their research in San Francisco Bay and beyond, and participate in marine science research activities. Visitors of all ages also have the opportunity to have "hands-on" interactions with live marine organisms, listen to underwater sounds off RTC's seawall and engage in science-themed art activities. Join us on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 1-5 pm for our next Rosenberg Institute Discovery Day Open House. Please check back or sign up on our mailing list at right to receive more information.
